No time to enjoy this crumbling Melville splendour. Leaving eJozi early. So wonderful to see @sophdex and @ezlemoen though.

Three Sisters in the evening and Colesberg in the morning.
This struck me as the most South African weekend scene I can imagine - from the end of World War II to today, kids hanging out getting treats on the weekend.
@furiousgreencloud contemplates the sunlight leaving Africa for the Americas with a seagull at Storms River Mouth.
A brief stop on @furiousgreencloud and my road trip that began long before dawn.
Colesberg for the night. Brain dead from the N1.
I’ve been taken with a real hankering to use my Pentax 645 again. Such a great camera. This was in 2012 at the little airport outside Beaufort West that was a bnb at the time. Hence @withoutaleaf hanging out on the air traffic control tower. When we were next there a couple years ago the runway was in action again training Chinese pilots for their indentured servitude in China’s commercial aviation industry. Worse jobs to be enslaved to, I guess.
This place has some amazing biltong, droëwors, and pies. Plus we’re getting lamb chops. You don’t find butcheries like this in Cape Town.
Snap.
What’s going in your holiday guitar bag? Last year I packed it and left it like a fool. @chocklit_thunda lent me one in Joburg even though we’d never previously met. 🙌 This year though I get to take my own beloved Alvarez parlour and a bunch of things to work on. The blues book has stuff by Furry Lewis and Frank Stokes. @sad_ivan gave it to me, the star. The Cohen book is also from the ‘60s and was my ma’s songbook. And, if I start to get REALLY ambitious there’s Chet Atkins.
