I’m a South African, born in Johannesburg but living in Cape Town since 1984. I freelance in the NGO sector, automating routine admin and reporting to allow them to do far more with their ever-limited personnel.

Photography, writing, and music I do as an amateur in the original sense.

The bulk of the intial thousand-odd entries on this site are taken from my Instagram. Instagram was past its best when I made my account and has enshittified steadily since then - hence moving the content here. Consequently the text of these entries tends to be brief and casual and the pictures sometimes repetitive.

All the text on this blog has been, and ever will be, the product of my mind alone (or the helpful editing advice of human friends) and I have not and will never use AI to meaningfully alter the content of my photographs - although I have and will use machine-learning-based tools to more easily bring out the best in what was actually in front of the lens.
