I found this pic I took of @withoutaleaf in 2008. I have no memory of taking it and hadn’t seen these pics since. Sometimes digital files disappear. And then sometimes they crop up as if out of nowhere.

The braaimaster of the day. Tanya decided she was going to leave the souties to handle the braaiing. Astonishingly we actually had edible food without burning the place to the ground. But it’s still usually better to leave the fire to Afrikaaners who know what they’re doing.

A very dear friend who I don’t think has ever appeared on my insta before. A man with a giant heart. One of our greying gang of school friends.

I may have actually got a good deal out of Munroe’s Junk Shop! I already own David Bailey’s magnificent eulogy to the 1960s, “Goodbye Baby & Amen,” so I knew it goes from anywhere between $85 and $575 US. So R200 for a second copy, (+-US$12) seemed worth it for this beautiful book, published and printed in 1969 before the ’60s were even over. Even if I don’t sell it, it’s an amazing gift for the right person.
