Devil’s Peak presiding over a beautiful city rife with blood and misery. Frankly the Devil has never been for blood and misery in this world. So it’s more an aspirational symbol for the city than anything else.

Painters in Obz on my lunch acquiring expedition.
Return Of The Fly. We got to warm up a really great crowd @mercurylivect last night for fantastic performances from @coriander_colin and headliners @emergermusic. This was the show to be at this weekend in Cape Town. And I don’t know what they’re putting in the water now but the members of those bands were wonderful, warm people as well as skilled, talented musicians. We’d play with them again any time.
@withoutaleaf wins today’s Trinket pic competition. The weather’s changing and the cats are becoming sun-seekers. (btw, if you want to see pics I don’t post here, check out our @krakatoa_band account).
@kanecroudace’s magic hat of illumination also doubles as a little portrait ring-light. The perfect headwear for the instagram age.
My Gran’s painting of her birthplace in Lesotho 🇱🇸 She had this to remind her from before my dad was born in 1941. The artist’s name looks like Heisl.
Surprise show with smooth and synthy headliners, @emergermusic, at Mercury live on Sat, 18th May. Also @coriander_colin. Strange bedfellows make for strange and magical nights. This isn’t the official event thingy, obvs. We just wanted to make sure you Krakatoa people got a heads-up.
Some great undulating topiary on my way back from voting in the 6th democratic elections in South Africa. Let us hope our path straightens out now.
My neighbours have been doing a top job mosaicing cinder blocks to decorate a little garden along the the fence of the railway line.
A South African delicacy that is refreshingly honest in a world of fake news.
